Neon Trees Light Up Salt Lake City With High-Energy “Sink Your Teeth” Tour Kickoff September 20,2025

Neon Trees kicked off their Sink Your Teeth Tour in Salt Lake City at The Complex, proving once again why their music continues to resonate with fans across generations. In the crowd, you could spot fans as young as six and others who have been following the band since their early Utah days. Before the show, I spoke with a few concertgoers who shared just how much the band means to them. Emmitt, who traveled from Midvale, has seen Neon Trees live three times and holds “Teenager In Love” close to her heart, as it reminds her of a past relationship. Jenna, attending her first show from Draper, chose “Songs I Can’t Listen To” as her favorite, explaining how relatable it feels no matter where you are in life. Meanwhile, Aimee from Orem has seen the band seven times and couldn’t help but shout out “Everybody Talks” as her go-to track because of its energy and unforgettable hook. Their emoji picks to describe the band? ⚡, 💜, and 😍—a perfect mix of energy, love, and admiration.

The setlist pulled from across the band’s catalog, from early hits like “Animal” and “1983” off their debut album Habits to fan favorites like “Sleeping With a Friend,” “Teenager In Love,” and their latest tracks from Sink Your Teeth. Tyler Glenn, the band’s charismatic frontman, brought not just his signature energy but also heartfelt moments. During “Secret,” he asked the audience to shout the title lyric back at him, creating an electric call-and-response. Later, he stripped things back with an acoustic performance of “Your Surrender,” where couples embraced and fans waved flashlights in the air, turning the venue into a sea of light and emotion.

Between songs, Glenn opened up about the band’s 20-year history, their Utah roots, and his personal journey with identity and sexuality. He reflected on a moment from 15 years ago when a relationship turned into gossip about his sexuality—a story that ultimately inspired the hit song “Everybody Talks.” Instead of revenge, he turned vulnerability into a career-defining anthem. The night closed with that same track, the crowd belting every lyric as if it were written just for them. For fans old and new, Neon Trees live concert was more than just music—it was connection, nostalgia, and a reminder of the band’s lasting impact on pop and alternative rock.
