Peach Pit Brings Heart, Humor, and Healing to a
Sold-Out Utah Crowd
June 3, 2025

On a warm night at Sandy Amphitheater, Canadian indie rock band Peach Pit delivered an unforgettable, sold-out performance that
blended vulnerability, nostalgia, and infectious energy. Opening with “Magpie” from their 2024 album of the same name, the band quickly settled into a setlist that spanned their discography — from early hits like “Drop the Guillotine” to fan favorites like “Black Licorice” and “Up Granville.” Lead singer Neil Smith’s banter was candid and raw, including a humorous yet heartfelt moment where he talked about giving up alcohol after a particularly wild bachelor party, now celebrating seven years of sobriety. He dedicated the song “Give Up Baby Go” to those who know the chaos of that lifestyle.
Throughout the night, Peach Pit’s music acted as both a time capsule and a lifeline for fans. Neil broke out an acoustic guitar for “Did You Love Somebody,” inviting couples in the crowd to slow down and savor the moment. The band reminisced about their early days playing Kilby Court to a modest 100 people — a humble contrast to the thousands now filling the amphitheater. The set climaxed with “Alrighty Aphrodite” before the encore brought with it an emotional backstory: Neil described how a teenage friendship and a shared trip on MDMA led to the
formation of the band, eventually inspiring the creation of the track “Peach Pit,” which preceded their final song of the night, “Tommy’s Party.”
Fans came from all corners of Utah to be part of the night. A pair from Ogden shared their love for “Private Presley” and “Give Up Baby Go,” songs they connect with during personal highs and lows. Two local girls from Sandy watched from the top of the amphitheater, expressing how “Tommy’s Party” and
“Alrighty Aphrodite” helped them through emotional transitions and fed a deeper love for myth and meaning. One fan from Pleasant Grove said “June” helped him survive dark teenage years. Whether on stage or in the crowd, healing and connection pulsed through every lyric and guitar riff — making it more than just a concert, but a shared story of growth.
